Frosted Canvas by secrets-of-the-pen Frosted Canvas by secrets-of-the-pen
New year... so I want to try new things! This is my first try with charcoal on canvas and it definitely feels different than my paper, but I can't wait to experiment some more!

Created with chalk and charcoal on 5x7 primed canvas in about 2 hours.

Currently your art is on my craft table, sitting on a shelf, overlooking the living room.  I've yet to purchase a frame for it, as I rather like it just the way it is.
So honoured to be an owner of one of your pieces.

This is really beautiful! :)
I've been asked to draw a portrait using charcoal on canvas, which i have never done before. How easy did you find this, and does the charcoal adhere well to the canvas?

Thank you!
Compared to paper, it's definitely a challenge, but this was only my first time trying it. I plan to try again when I have a bit of time between my commissioned work. I do recommend doing a small test to see how it feels before taking on something huge! And make sure the canvas is well-primed (and sanded if you like a smoother surface.) It was a ton of fun and I loved the way the shades seemed richer on canvas, so it's definitely worth giving it a go!

Hi, I'm just wondering what brands you are using? The white is very dynamic.
