Three years ago, I drew a black and white close up of this same portrait and that one drawing gave me a huge love of portraiture and broke the boundaries of what I thought I was capable of in art. So when I was commissioned to draw it again, except this time, 4x as big and in full color - I jumped into the challenge! I have learned so much from this piece. About pastels and color, but also about myself as an artist and how VERY much I love what I do. I thrive on details and intricate work and this portrait is one of my favorite art experiences of my life and I'm really going to miss working on it!
